One of the Millenium Development Goals 2015 is to ensure environmental sustainability which contains one of the target of sanitation facilities. Although we all as a world - are on the way of developing ourselves together, but still there are some sections in various countries which are having unimproved sanitation facilities. It’s not that the situation hasn’t improved... it has over a period of time, but still in 21st century, we are stuck with the idea of getting proper sanitation and to talk openly about sanitation and hygiene esp. for girls is a shhh.
Came in touch with an NGO “HEEALS” where got to know more about the sections who need education on even small things which we feel, living in urban area, as most common thing but in actual it’s not a common practice for many like washing hands with a soap. There are people who still use stone to rub their hands in order they clean their hands L
Also one point to know is that just washing hands with soap is not all to be done. In fact, we should know to rub hands properly with a soap. Unhygienic condition like not washing hands after using toilet can be seen even in urban areas K
Girls dropping out of school / college just because they don’t get proper access to sanitation. Improper sanitation and hygiene can lead to unhealthy environment and birth of diseases.  We have already seen the impact of unhealthy sanitation in the history of Europe which lead to plague (generally referred as the black death during those medieval times). I feel that we need to talk more with each other reg. sanitation and hygiene to make people more aware of it. If many developed countries have achieved this particular MDG then even developing countries can with a collective effort and only then it will be a progress of a country and hence, the world with all the sections of the society moving ahead together.
We should start to TALK with each other about the hygiene in order to stop unhealthy environment to some extent.
